Dog grooming is physically demanding work.
It is not recommended as a career if you suffer any muscular skeletal problems or are prone to repetitive strain injuries. Asthma may also present some problems.
You may love dogs but keep in mind, loving them doesn’t always mean you can work with them. You need to be able to switch from “owner mode” to “professional mode”. If you are not able to leave aside excessive hugs and kisses while you are working on the dog, then the dog does not see you as a pack leader and misbehaves. In a dogs mind there must be a pack leader and if that is not you, the groomer, then the dog will assume the roll.
Dog Grooming is not a career that can be taught in a class room situation or via correspondence format. It is a hands-on trade that you can only learn by practical application. This is why your time with us is so intensive and hard work. We want you to experience as much of salon life as possible.
